VISIT CAP PRIM

Cap Prim is one of the must-visits in Jávea because it is a unique environment with a great wealth of fauna and flora typical of the area. It is located in the bay of Portitxol and is the perfect place for a relaxing excursion enjoying a micro nature reserve.

To walk around it, you will find a linear route of approximately one hour’s duration. As it is not very difficult, anyone can do it and it is an ideal activity to do with the family. Discover a new perspective of the Mediterranean coast, admiring the fusion between the sea and the cliffs.

How to get to Cap Prim?

The route to Cap Prim is of low difficulty and is barely one kilometre long. For this reason, we recommend approaching the Creu Portitxol viewpoint and from there walking the entire route, which takes about half an hour. You can calculate that you will take a break when you reach your destination and you will have another 30 minutes to return, as it is a linear route.

The gradient is not very steep, with less than 100 metres. It is especially recommended for those who cannot access paths of great difficulty, as the paths here are well preserved and anyone can follow them. Obviously, the route can become more complicated if you go off the marked route, but it is a fairly simple route that will allow you to get close to the cliffs easily and safely.

Once you reach Cap Prim, you can choose whether to retrace your steps or alter the route a little to enjoy the Cala Sardinera cove, very close by. Ending the excursion with a swim in the Mediterranean can be the best way to round off this outing.

Llegar al Cap Prim

The Sardinera Cove and other points of interest along the route

Along the way you will come across small gems where you can stop to admire the scenery. In fact, right from the start you can get an idea of the places you are about to enter by contemplating the views from the Creu Portitxol viewpoint.

As you approach Cap Prim, the Illa Portitxol will be on your right. Its surface area of about 8 hectares is crossed by different paths, and we cannot fail to recommend an excursion there because you will discover a spectacular setting that was of some importance during Roman times.

Spending some time at Cala Sardinera, which owes its name to the fishermen’s fondness for catching sardines with fine nets, is the perfect end to this route. You can disconnect from everything and admire the calm that the Mediterranean Sea inspires in this unspoilt cove formed by rock and gravel that blends with the characteristic blue of these waters.

Cap Prim Javea

The route to Cap Prim

The first thing to do is to plan your getaway on a day with good weather. Although this is almost guaranteed in a place like Jávea, it is important that the weather is clear to ensure full visibility of all the nooks and crannies. As we have already mentioned, this is a relatively easy route with hardly any gradient, although we recommend suitable footwear for comfortable walking.

You start from the Creu del Poritxol viewpoint, and there you can already get an idea of the path you are going to follow. You will find a path and some steps from where you can see the first ravine. Remember to walk carefully at all times.

You will enter a group of pine trees and come to a crossroads that points to Cala Sardinera cove on the left and Cap Prim ahead. You have now reached the halfway point of the route.

Next, a path along the cliff will allow you to enjoy the views of Cap Negre, l’Illa and Els Pallers. A little further ahead you will reach Cap Prim, completing the marked distance of 1073 metres.
